A Bakugan Battle Brawler is a small sphere until it lands on a gate card. When it does, the gate card causes the Bakugan Battle Brawler’s sphere to open revealing the Bakugan Battle Brawler inside. When two Battle Brawlers land on the same gate card they battle it out until one wins. The player who owns the winning Bakugan Battle Brawler gets the gate card and gets to go first in the next round. The battles continue until one player has won enough battles to collect three gate cards.

Because there are over a hundred different Bakugan Battle Brawlers to choose from, no two games are ever alike. Who wins the game all depends on which Bakugan Battle Brawlers you pick to play with and which Bakugan Battle Brawlers your opponent picks to play with. You can also amp up your Bakugan battles by getting the Bakugan Battle Arena to play on or by using the Bakugan Launcher to aim your Bakugan Battle Brawlers during the game. There’s even a neat Bakugan Collector Case to store your Battle Brawlers in when you’re not playing. How cool is that!

Bakugan Battle Brawlers is a collectible toy and card game based on a Japanese anime television show. This is one of the best-sellers this holiday season, and has lots of room for expansion.

At first glance, the rules may seem a bit complicated, but are easily understood after a few rounds. Basically, players sit across from each other and place Bakugan Gate Cards on the battle board. Then each player, in turn, rolls their Bakugan onto the board. If the Bakugan rolls over a gate card it opens automatically and is ready for battle.

Players have three Bakugan Battle Brawlers, three Gate Cards, and three Ability Cards each. Advanced players may also add one trap to make for more exciting play. Each Brawler has a point value. Gate cards add to that value depending on the type of Bakugan that is on the card.

Battle starts as soon as two Brawlers have landed on the same Gate Card. The total points of the Brawler, Gate and Ability Cards are added together. Any text on the cards may override the normal rules. After that’s done, the winner keeps the Gate Card and the Brawlers are put into the used pile. The first player to get three cards wins the game.

There are over 100 Bakugan Battle Brawlers available, as well as many different Gate and Ability Cards, and Traps. This allows for endless variety during play, not to mention the skill needed to land your Bakugan on top of a Gate Card.
